Membership in Altrusa is by invitation to join and become active members. The goal for a club's membership is an up-to-date, diverse, and progressive representation of our community's business, vocational, and professional interests. Membership is vital to our club's operations and service activities. An individual who is interested in membership may contact any Altrusan or contact the membership chair.
The membership committee continually expands the club with committed members who have the interest and ability to get involved in our club's service and fundraising projects.
Prospective members must:
- be a potential or recognized leader in business, industry, or a profession in the community;
- have the capacity to meet the club's weekly attendance or service project participation requirements;
- live or work within the locality of the club or the surrounding area.
Membership carries with it certain responsibilities:
- Members are expected to attend weekly programs of the club. There are opportunities to make up attendance through active participation in service and fundraising projects.
- Members are required to pay annual dues to their clubs, their districts, and to Altrusa International.
- Members are expected to participate in local service for the club. District and international event participation are strongly encouraged, but not required.
- Members are encouraged to aspire to leadership or committee roles within the club.
