2006-2007 Award Recipients

Linda Barb New Member Award 

Jama Cashdollar joined Altrusa in 2005 and immediately became the Assistant Chair of the Annual Style Show Production Team.  She has continued her work with this important fund raiser for our club, and stepped up to being Assistant Chair and will Chair  the Style Show event.   She’s sponsored new members, is a staunch supporter of community volunteerism, serves on the Ways and Means Committee, and enthusiastically participates in every aspect of Altrusa with spirit and a smile.  Jama exemplifies everything we look for in  a new member and more.  She serves tirelessly and cheerfully without expecting recognition.  
 

Nell Brogdon Community Service Award 

Tara Smalstig joined the Muncie club in 2004.  She has served as Assistant Chair of the Style Show Underwriting Committee.  In 2005, she joined the Membership Development Committee and in 2006-2007 served as the Assistant Chair and helped completely revamp the goals and accomplishments of that committee.  Her sponsor says that Tara has an abundant amount of energy and gives 110% to her community.  She has served on the Board of Directors of the Muncie Children’s Museum, volunteered at the Cornerstone Center for the Arts, and worked with the Invest in Youth campaign at the YMCA.  She is active in church activities and brings a community commitment and pride to our Muncie Altrusa Club. 

Chella Rinker Outstanding Member Award 

Dorothy Webb began her service to Altrusa in 1957 and, after interrupted service, has been a cornerstone of our club since 1965.   She was born and raised in Muncie and is a former WAVE with the United States Navy.  She served as the District Six Treasurer from 1971-1973, is a Past President of our club, and has chaired virtually every committee. She has attended numerous International Conventions including those in San Francisco, Dublin, Chicago and New Zealand.  She has always been an outstanding contributor to our Muncie Club and still is to this very day. 

Dorothy Webb Member of the Year Award 

Leigh Edwards devoted two years with the Style Show Hospitality Committee, becoming the Hospitality Chair in 2005.  She established incentives for the sale of tickets and brought an energy and enthusiasm to the effort that could not be matched. She served with the Youth Development Committee where she felt she could make a real contribution, and then stepped up to serving as the Chair in mid-year.   She not only works the hardest, but always steps aside to honor and support other Altrusans in their efforts.  She truly exemplifies the Altrusa spirit in every way, every day. 

Pat Callard Sponsor Award 

Margot Dierson has been an Altrusan since 1999.  She is a back to back winner for this award having also been recognized in 2006 for her work in recruiting new members for Altrusa.  Margot has sponsored many new members over the years and actively works to be sure that new Altrusans become active Altrusans.  As Chair of the Membership Development Committee this year, she brought a lot of excitement to new and not so new members alike with great ideas, member rewards, and novel recognitions. 

President’s Award

Jane White has been an Altrusan for approximately 27 years.  She is a very caring, dedicated and loyal person.  She has kept me informed and assisted me throughout my term in office.  She never said no whenever I asked her to do something.  She has made me laugh and she has made me cry through her kindness and dedication,” noted President Della Gregory.
